WEDDING PLANNING GUIDE
Panning a wedding can be so overwhelming with all the things you need to think about. Alot of people hire a Wedding Coordinator to help them with all of that but that is if you have the budget for it and not everyone has that.
TIP:
Organisation is key to keeping track of all the projects, deadlines, lists and just everyday life. The first step you can take is making sure you have a long enough timeline to plan, a year is priiime but if you have less you can make it work, just make sure that get that organisation figured out. Don’t forget to get your significant other involved in the planning because this is both of your day and should represent the both of you.
Here comes my TOP 5 wedding planning tips. One thing you need to remember when planning is… HAVE FUN.
1/ SET A BUDGET & STICK TO IT
YOUR BUDGET IS GOING TO BE WHAT DETERMINES HOW YOUR WEDDING IS GOING TO LOOK, OR HOW YOU ARE ABLE TO GET THE LOOK YOU WANT. MAKE SURE YOU LOOK AT YOURS AND YOUR FIANCÉS FINANCES SO THAT YOU CAN CREATE AN ESTIMATED BUDGET. A TIP TO REMEMBER IS TO MAKE SURE THERE IS ABIT OF WIGGLE ROOM IN YOUR BUDGET FOR UNEXPECTED ADDITIONAL COSTS. Try having a 10-15% cushion for those unexpected fees.
2/ MAKE A LIST OF WEDDING PRIORITIES
TAKE A MOMENT AND SIT WITH YOUR PARTNER TO TALK ABOUT WHAT YOUR TOP THREE PRIORITIES FOR YOUR WEDDING IS. IS IT THE LOCATION? THE WEDDING PHOTOGRAPHER? A SPECIFIC DATE? AMOUNT OF GUESTS? A LIVE BAND? Prioritise what you have decided as your top 3 and then make sure you are ready to compromise with the rest.
3/ FIGURE OUT WHAT YOUR STYLE IS
GO INTO A DEEP DIVE IN PINTEREST, INSTAGRAM AND MAGAZINES TO FIND ALL THE INSPIRATION YOU NEED. START WITH HAVING A GOOD SENSE OF WHAT STYLE YOU ARE LOOKING TO RECREATE. THERE IS ALOT OF WEDDING INSPO OUT THERE SO DON’T OVERWHELM YOURSELF. MAKE 3 PINTEREST BOARDS ORGANISING WHAT STYLE YOU WANT FOR YOUR CEREMONY, INVITES, PARTY OR ANY OTHER AREAS IN THE WEDDING. It is an actual thing to have TOO much inspiration so make sure you limit the amount of time you spend looking for inspiration. Make a list of your likes and dislikes as well as your dos and don’t - this will help you!
4/ GET ORGANISED
THERE ARE SO MANY DIFFERENT TOOLS YOU CAN USE TO HELP YOU STAY ORGANISED - GOOGLE DOCS, EXCEL, WORD, SPREADSHEETS - YOU JUST NEED TO FIND WHAT WORKS FOR YOU. GATHER ALL YOUR THOUGHTS, BUDGET, EMAILS, PHONE NUMBERS IN ONE PLACE SO THEY AREN’T ALL SCATTERED.
5/ INVOLVE YOUR SIGNIFICANT OTHER
REMEMBER THAT YOU AREN’T ALONE IN THIS. THIS WEDDING IS YOURS AND YOUR PARTNERS, SO SPEND TIME TOGETHER GOING THROUGH YOUR VISION AND DREAMS. IT MAKES IT A LOT MORE FUN PLANNING A WEDDING TOGETHER. WORKING TOWARDS A COMMON GOAL WILL HELP BRING YOU CLOSER AS A COUPLE AS WELL AS GROW TOGETHER.
